We recently sold our residence and attached business.  Both septic systems were older and had to be replaced. The engineer that I was working with recommended Barkman Excavating. I contacted Tobin, and he came right out to look at the job. He consulted with the engineer and gave us a reasonable quote for the job. The job was started on time and completed as quickly as possible. The only delay was due to a snow storm. I was very impressed by Tobin and his crew. They worked efficiently together and were very organized. Each night they had everything laid out for the next work day. They showed up early and worked full days until the job was done. They never left you hanging as some contractors often do. The residence system was fairly standard, but the business system was challenging. They worked closely with the engineer and local health official to get it done. I always felt you can tell a lot about a contractor by the appearance of their equipment. If they take pride in their equipment, it usually reflects in their work product. This is definitely true with Tobin and his crew. He has the right equipment for each stage of the job, and it all is well maintained and downright good looking. These guys are Professionals. I would highly recommend Barkman Excavating for any job. Their prices are competitive, they're a pleasure to work with, and you're going to be happy with the final product.

Our family has been a satisfied customer of Toby Barkman Excavating for over 25 years. They have been reliable and get the job done on time and within budget. They have the expertise and equipment to do a wide variety of massive duty yard jobs and have been a pleasure to work with. One job was particularly noteworthy. We have a bridge that crosses a creek for our driveway. Hurricane Sandy washed out the bank leading to the bridge which meant we could not get our cars in or out of our property. I called Toby on a Sunday, and the next morning he was at our house with his crew to rectify the problem, which he did within several hours. I am still not sure how he was able to get to our house or to get the necessary material with all of the floodings in the area, but they prevailed. The wide variety of jobs they have done for us include rebuilding the creek bank to the bridge, constructing a cattle guard surface for our driveway bridge, resurfacing a gravel driveway and laying and connecting water pipes from the street to our house.  I have also discussed having them reconstruct our septic system if and when that becomes necessary. Excellent people to work with.
